Day 33, Week 5:  Strength in the Lord (Rock)

build step 6

Read:  Psalm 40:2

Have you ever been in a pit that you couldn’t escape on your own?  For many years, my pit was depression.  In those seasons a dark cloud hung over my spirit.  No matter how much I willed myself to lighten up or shake off the darkness, I still felt weighed down and hopeless.  God comforted me during the darkest times, reminding me that he loves me and has a plan and future for me.  He directed me to counselors who helped me out of my pit.  He led me to new friends who encouraged me in my faith.  God lifted me out of my depression and set me on a rock—his church and his Word.  I know what it’s like to be trapped in a pit, and I’m so grateful to God for lifting me out.

Reflection:

Has God lifted you out of a pit and set your feet on a firm place?  How can you help someone else find solid footing?
