grassDay 22, Week 4:  Humility (Grass Seed)

Today’s scripture passage:

“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” [the disciples] answered. “Bring them here to me,” [Jesus] said.  And he directed the people to sit down on the grass.  Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.  Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied.  Matthew 14:17-20a NIV

This week’s focus is upon the symbolism of the grass seed we planted in the resurrection garden.  The grass is something humble that God uses for his glory.  In this passage, Jesus uses a grassy field as the setting for a glorious display of his power.  He multiplied a small lunch to feed thousands, demonstrating to his disciples the power that faith has to create blessings for many people.  As your faith grows, so grows your confidence in the Lord to accomplish much with precious little.

Today’s reflection:

How has God taken a small offering from you and turned it into a great blessing?
